I wanted to drop you a note to remind you that the Lakewood Pool is now officially open for the 2017 season, to inform you of some of the positive changes we have made and to let you know our operating hours:

  • Tuesday thru Saturday –  Noon to 8pm

Upgrades: In the picture attached, you will see the new look:

  • New 4 Sided Picnic Tables – We think they look great and hope you will too.

  • $190 for family membership (2 adults + children)
  • $95 for Grandparents, firefighters, police officers, teachers

Please come by the pool at your convenience to secure your membership (forms are at the pool, cash or check please).

Facebook:  Please like our page “Lakewood Pool Club, Baytown Texas” for more info and updates.

Thank you for all your patronage.  All of the volunteers work very hard to make this pool something that Lakewood and yourself can be proud of.

by on May.26, 2017, under Neighborhood Watch

Crime reports are available again from the Baytown Police (last available report was Sept 2016)

The calls for service are high because the grid takes in part of Decker. So between Decker and Bayway you can see there are a lot of traffic accidents.

Lakewood Civic Association 5/4/2017 Annual Meeting Minutes

by on May.07, 2017, under Association News

Lakewood Civic Association Annual Meeting Minutes – May 4, 2017

Treasurer’s report indicated no significant change in funds from 2016 to 2017, with expenditures and dues being about equal but less than the year before.

Newly elected board members were announced: Dell Cantrell, Spencer Carnes, Wayne Hanson, and Dan Poirot. The new members join existing board members Mary Bagwell, Pat Cauley, Randy Dickey, and Frank McKay. The board thanked leaving members Elaine Brainard and Tim Christensen. The board also thanked Delilah Cranford, Lisa Little and Ed Rios for running in a close election.

The attempt to obtain grant money for boat launch improvements last year was discussed. We did not receive the grant money mainly because we did not want to open the launch up as a public boat launch.

Charles Johnson, District 3 Councilman, answered questions about how the city deals with high grass/weeds property, speeding cars in neighborhood, operating a business in the neighborhood, trailers in flood zones, and the recent zoning decision on the property on Bayway. Charles provided his email and encouraged neighbors to contact him with any issues. He also indicated he would be having another town meeting in June.

Officer Stewart Beasley discussed the 2017 Lakewood crime statistics (no reported home or car burglaries, a few mischief calls and several reported gun shots in the neighborhood. There were discussions about watching out for your neighbors and reporting unusual activities.

The Garden and Lakewood Pool Clubs provided updates.
