Board member election results–Randy introduced the outgoing board members Bobby Bonds and Sheryl Ward and explained that board member Ken Tilton’s resignation necessitated the election of five new members, rather than four. They are: Mary Bagwell, Randy Dickey, Martha Goolsby, Frank McKay, and Deanne Navarre. Members with one more year to complete their two-year term are Monica Chauviere, Joanne Eve, and Denise Pratt, who replaced Tim Quinton on the board.

Web Site—Randy explained that our web site has been revamped and includes details regarding the following: clubs, contacts, regulations, and other pertinent neighborhood information. He explained that, in view of rising printing costs, it would be advisable for us to increase our use of the site as a means of disseminating information. The addition of an alert email notification system has been delayed because of the need to find a volunteer to serve as “the gatekeeper” for this function. Anyone interested in filling this position should contact Randy or Chet Theiss.
Deed Restrictions—The board has been reviewing our current deed restrictions for possible improvements in an effort to maintain and/or improve the appearance of our neighborhood. The plan is that the new board will to continue this process, proposing an update hopefully by year end.
Guest Speaker—Randy introduced Assistant Police Chief David Alford whose spoke to those present about methods and means to avoid crime. Key points were being mindful of danger, preplan and rehearse how to react, use more lighting around your homes, watch out for your neighbors and contact the police when anything looks suspicious.
City Councilman Report—City Councilman Brandon Capetillo’s comments included his encouraging Lakewood residents to:
- Stay informed about the status of Lakewood issues and concerns by frequently accessing the web site.
- Communicate with the appropriate City of Baytown personnel to report city ordinance violations.
- Interact with him regarding LW issues and concerns.

- Open Memorial Day weekend
- Open June 2-3 and remainder of summer
- Bar-BQ fundraiser Saturday, June 9. Contact James Springer for advance order of whole brisket ($50). Brisket plates–$8. Free swim on day of fundraiser, June 9.
Neighborhood Watch—Chairman Chet Thiess reported that one of NW’s goals was to install Neighborhood Watch signs at all street entrances into Lakewood. This has been accomplished with the exception of the Post Oak location. This new sign and the two old and faded signs at Lakewood and Burnett (and Bayway) are scheduled for installation. Chet also encouraged people to access our web site to stay abreast of Neighborhood Watch matters.
Meeting Adjournment—As there were no other items for discussion, Randy adjourned the meeting.
