August 2018 Lakewood Yard of the Month

Situated on the canal 222 Yaupon is a cobalt colored contemporary home with relaxing tropical garden touches. Recently purchased by Tom and Norma Sherman they enjoy caring for their yard and getting to know the Lakewood Community. We welcome Tom and Norma to the neighborhood.

July 2018 Lakewood Yard of the Month

152 North Burnett Drive owned by Delilah and Ray Cranford sits on the Bay and went down during Ike.  Despite everything being swept away in 2008 including many trees they came back rebuilding better than ever.  Brick by brick from front to back they redesigned their gorgeous home which is showcased by this attractive yard.  Cheers to the Cranford’s for their Texas tenacity to reconstruct like so many others in our Lakewood Community and surrounding area.

June 2018 Lakewood Yard of the Month

424 South Burnett was built in 1951. Frankie and Scott Jackson known for their annual “Jackson Jingle” have lived in it for the last 30 years. Their attractive remodel begins with this smart, balanced, tranquil yard that both the Jackson’s work hard to create. Scott refers to Frankie as his “flower girl” who brings much care to their charming setting.

May 2018 Lakewood Yard of the Month

Lois and Kenneth Smith have the proud distinction of being Yard of the Month for May. Living at 404 Post Oak the flower beds are alive with color. Lois takes great strides to lovingly care for her garden while Kenneth upkeeps the lawn. Lois has been a member of the Garden Club since 1996. The Smiths are 30 year members of the Lakewood Community.

Charles Murray pictured in photo is truly inspirational. Living at 503 North Burnett he maintains his 1.3 acre property with heartfelt care. Charles and his wife Ann bought the home 48 years ago from a Doctor Scott who had built it. Charles has carefully created focal points and seated areas sure to delight any visitor.

Light Up Lakewood 2017 Competition

Special Announcement for the residents of Lakewood!

Get your Christmas lights ready for the annual Lakewood Garden Club’s “Light up Lakewood”.  The judging will be on the night of Tuesday, Dec. 12 after dark between 6:30 and 8:00.

Judging based on originality, general appeal, and implementation of displays.

Five winners will be announced in the Baytown Sun, the Lakewood Civic Association’s online newsletter and the NextDoor Lakewood  online site.  The winners will also be presented with a special gift and a sign will be placed in your yard. All you have to do is use your best decorating skills and have your lights on by dark! Good Luck!
