There were 3 guest speakers:
Dawson Mertz and Warren Dalton of San Saba Oil and Gas spoke regarding deep drilling under Lakewood. San Saba has acquired a lease from the City of Baytown for conventional deep drilling under the neighborhood. San Saba has offered effected Lakewood residents a higher signing bonus and royalty rate than required by the city. The drilling would be conventional (not fracking) and directional with the drill site located outside the neighborhood, likely in the Wade Road area. Association members’ questions were posed and answered.
Officer Stewart Beasley spoke on the topic of crime avoidance. He discussed the recent home invasion that occurred in Country Club. He stated that crime in the Lakewood neighborhood is low, and he emphasized that home owners need to continue to monitor the neighborhood and call police whenever suspicious activity is noticed.
Brandon Capetillo, District 3 City Councilman provided an update of activities in the city that influence Lakewood, such as the upcoming repaving of Hackberry Street.
Reports were given by the Garden Club, Boat Club, Lakewood Pool, and Neighborhood Watch.
The floor was opened for discussion.
The meeting was adjourned.
