GOOD NEIGHBOR AWARD
by Randee King on Mar.31, 2021, under Association News

We are excited to announce that the Lakewood Civic Association (LCA) and Lakewood Neighborhood Watch are starting a “Good Neighbor Award” program for our subdivision. Lakewood is a wonderful place to live and we have so many residents that go out of their way to make it even better. The recent freeze where people helped others stay warm, get water, repairs leaks, etc. and those who looked for a lady that went missing in our subdivision are just some examples of neighbors helping neighbors. Acts of kindness and good deeds will be recognized on this website and an award will be given quarterly to an outstanding “good neighbor”. For more information and to make a submission for this award please visit: Good Neighbor Award
City Grant Approved
by Randee King on Mar.20, 2021, under Association News
Great News! The LCA has been selected to receive a grant from the City of Baytown to install a second neighborhood sign with landscaping at the corner of Bayway Drive and Lakewood Drive. This project demonstrates the great teamwork we have in Lakewood. The new property owner has given us permission to have the sign at that location, a member of the Sea Scouts will be coordinating the project as part of her Quartermaster Award, the sign and landscaping will be done with all volunteer labor from the Sea Scouts, LCA and others in the neighborhood, the LCA will maintain the sign and the Lakewood Garden Club will maintain the landscaping. Special thanks to Randy Dickey for designing the sign, Spencer Carnes for his pro bono engineering work to show the sign will meet City wind load requirements, Randee King for applying for the grant and the City of Baytown for this grant money.

LCA Board Recruitment
by Randee King on Jan.05, 2021, under Association News
Happy New Year!
It’s time again to recruit volunteers for the Lakewood Civic Association Board of Directors. The Lakewood Civic Association (LCA) began in the 1940s to maintain Lakewood as a wonderful place to live. The LCA is a voluntary organization comprised of Lakewood residents, both homeowners and tenants, with 8 board members. Each year four Board positions come up for election.
You may ask, “What is it like to be part of the Board of Directors?” Although the purpose of the LCA is to solve community problems of common interest to the residents and property owners of the Lakewood subdivision, it is so much more than just enforcing deed restrictions. Some activities this past year include having our 1st annual Halloween Decorating contest, providing a Welcome Packet to new homeowners, supporting National Night Out, the Lakewood Garden Club, Boat Club and Lakewood Pool, working with the City to prevent a R/V Park from being developed close to us, having the speed bumps on Pin Oak restriped, and much more. Many people volunteer with LCA activities and the more volunteers the LCA has, the more that can be done.
The LCA Board typically meets once a month so it’s a small investment of time with a potential for big community impact. If you are interested in running for the LCA Board please send in your name, address and phone number by using the ‘Contacts’ tab on this site. You can also turn in a request to run for the LCA Board through the LCA Facebook site (https://www.facebook.com/LakewoodCivicAssociationBaytownTX/) or PM Randee King through the LCA NextDoor Lakewood site (https://nextdoor.com/neighborhood/lakewoodbaytown–baytown–tx/). Nominations will be open until February 28th.
Thanks!
