Baytown is switching providers for our garbage and recycle services starting December 1^st.  After that date our trash will be picked up on Tuesdays and Fridays and our recycle will be picked up on Fridays.

Trash Service Switch-Over Dates

• November 1 to 21: Full-sized Best Trash & Recycle Bins will be delivered to residents.
• November 29: Last Trash Service Day for Waste Management. Use Waste Management bins until this day.
• December 1: First Best Trash Service Day. Place new bins on curb by 7 AM.
• November 29 to December 13: Waste Management bins will be picked up. Leave these bins empty after November 29.

Reminder: Lakewood Halloween Yard Decorating Contest. Don’t forget to ride around the neighborhood and vote for your 3 favorite Halloween yard decorations by Oct 21st. Send your picks to email address: Halloween@lakewoodcivic.org

The Lakewood Civic Association has been working with the City of Baytown to construct a park for our neighborhood and we need your feedback. We are trying to reach as many people as possible to get your input. Even if you attended the meeting held a few weeks ago, or offered your thoughts at National Night Out about potential parks, it’s still very important to fill out the survey.

It will only take a few minutes to complete this survey. It’s exciting that the City has money in the budget for a park for Lakewood, which would enhance our neighborhood. Please take this short survey by clicking on the link below. Thanks!

Lakewood Neighborhood Night Out

Mark your calendars – National Night Out (NNO) will be held for the Lakewood subdivision on October 4, 2022 from 6-8 pm at Travis Park (301 Robin Road). There will be snacks, drinks, games for children and adults, goodies and door prizes.

We hope you will come join us at Travis Park to meet neighbors and City officials while having an enjoyable evening.

October is a busy month. We hope you will join us.

• October 1^st from 8 am – 2 pm there will be a Community Garage Sale. There’s still time to register your home to be listed on social media. If you are a LCA member, yard signs are available upon request.  A list of participating homes can be found on the LCA website (lakewoodcivic.org). Sell some items you no longer need or go shopping that day for some great deals.
• October 4^th from 6-8 pm Neighborhood Night Out at Travis Park. There will be snacks, games for adults and kids, prizes and more. Come out and meet your neighbors and City Officials.
• October 1^st – October 21^st there will be a Halloween Decorating Contest. Decorate your yard for a chance to win a gift card. Winners will also have a sign to display in their yard.

These events are brought to you by the Lakewood Civic Association, Lakewood Neighborhood Watch and our wonderful neighborhood volunteers!

At the meeting with the City of Baytown on September 12, 2022, the City presented location options for a park along with several pros and cons for each location. Below are the charts they presented. We have also requested the City create a survey so people who could not attend the meeting will have a chance to provide their opinion. It’s exciting that the process has begun to create a park for Lakewood.

Would you like to see more amenities for Lakewood? The Lakewood Civic Association has been working with the City to build a Dog Park for our neighborhood, and with input from residents there’s also a potential to include a separate play area for children or teens and perhaps even a walking track. A park would be a great enhancement for Lakewood which could increase home values and make Lakewood an even more desirable location to live.

We need your attendance to make this project happen. Please join us on Monday, September 12^th at 6 pm at the Fire Training Field, located at 7022 Bayway Drive. The City of Baytown will be providing information and soliciting input.  

Where to locate the park is key to having a safe, accessible location that takes into account the needs of the park users as well as the effect the park will have on neighbors and the environment. These pictures show maps where the City owns property in and around Lakewood where a park could be situated.

• October 1^st – Community Garage Sale from 8 am – 2 pm. If you would like to sell items at your home and have your address listed, please send an email to garagesale@lakewoodcivic.org  There is no fee to participate and yard signs are available to LCA members upon request.

• October 4^th – Neighborhood Night Out from 6 pm – 8 pm at Travis Park. Everyone in the neighborhood is invited and there will be food, games, prizes and more. Come out and meet your neighbors and some City officials at this fun event.

Hello Neighbors! It’s Community Garage Sale Time! Lakewood and Lakewood Estates will join forces again for a Community Garage Sale on Saturday, October 1 from 8am-2pm. The LCA will be collecting addresses in Lakewood to be posted on the LCA website and linked through several online sites plus a newspaper ad. All residents can participate.

Please send your address to garagesale@lakewoodcivic.org if you would like your address listed. If you are a LCA member, yard signs are available upon request. So, clean out those closets and get ready to make some extra money at your own home.
