  • Azaleas: Last chance to fertilize and prune.  Water deeply once a week or as needed.
  • Pruning: Spring flowering shrubs may be pruned after blooming.
  • Mulch: Keeping beds well mulched with conserve soil moisture.
  • Annuals Perennials: Plants for summer color include begonia, bulbine, coleus, coneflower, lantana, penta, periwinkle, shrimp plant, torenia, and zinnia.
  • Fertilize: Bearded Iris and Louisiana Iris may be fertilized after blooming.
  • Vegetables: Plant basil, chives, cucumbers, eggplant, peppers, and okra.
